Luhrmann plans to capture the life of an icon by showcasing Elvis’ complex relationship with his manager Col. Tom Parker, with talk about the character being played by Tom Hanks. He is producing with his wife, Catherine Martin, and the two have been working on this biopic since 2013. The Director is writing the script with Craig Pearce, who coincided with Luhrmann’s last film, “The Great Gatsby” and the iconic “Moulin Rouge!”
Butler has reportedly been screen tested alongside Ansel Elgort, Miles Teller, Aaron Taylor Johnson, and Harry Styles for the role. Butler will soon be seen on the silver screen with his project, “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood”, alongside Leonardo DiCaprio, showing on July 26th in theaters.
