“Squid Game” Makes History At The 2022 Emmy Awards

The cast and director of mega-hit Netflix show, “Squid Game,” were in attendance at the 2022 Emmy Awards where they made history! Our beloved main character, Lee Jung Jae, who plays the role of “Gi Hun” in the series, took home the award for “Outstanding Lead Actor In A Drama Series,” making him the first Asian actor to do so. In his acceptance speech, Jung Jae thanked the Television Academy, Netflix, his co-stars, Jung Ho Yeon, Park Hae Soo, and Oh Young Soo, who were all in attendance, as well as his family, friends, and fans watching from Korea. He also thanked the “Squid Game” director, Hwang Dong Hyuk, who had a big night himself, after winning “Outstanding Director For A Drama Series,” the first-ever win in this category for a non-English language drama. Dong Hyuk ended his thank you speech with the best comment ever – “…I hope this won’t be my last Emmy either. I’ll be back with Season 2.” The two big wins were accompanied by major nominations for the “Squid Game” family: “Outstanding Drama Series,” “Outstanding Writing For A Drama Series” (Hwang Dong Hyuk,) “Outstanding Supporting Actress In A Drama Series” (Jung Ho Yeon,) “Outstanding Supporting Actor In A Drama Series” (Park Hae Soo and Oh Young Soo).

Congratulations to all and stay tuned for more updates on “Squid Game 2!”
