Filipino-American’s from all over made their way to the Greek Theater in Los Angeles this past Sunday to attend the concluding event for the Filipino American History Month celebration. Rain didn’t stop the dedicated attendees from watching their favorite musical acts; from the throwback performers, to the millennial favorites, and of course the headliner of the event – Legendary Gary Valenciano, the electric energy of the entire audience was most definitely felt. We got the chance to hang out backstage and meet some of the artists during their soundcheck as well as witness some last minute rehearsals, dance breaks and random jam outs in the dressing rooms before the show!
Kicking off the show was Drop N Harmony aka DnH as they serenaded the audience with a timeline of throwback hits as well as some of their own creations. Throughout the night, groups such as KAI and Devotion brought back the nostalgia factor as they performed songs from the 90’s. Jocelyn Enriquez brought the crowd to their feet as she performed her hit song “Do You Miss Me” and YouTube sensations AJ Rafael, Jesse Barrera, Andrew Garcia, JR Aquino and Brian Puspos all gathered together to perform as a treat for the younger folks in the crowd. Closing the show was Gary Valenciano who sang a handful of his hit songs, and was later joined on stage by his son, Gab Valenciano as they upped up the already energetic crowd.
Rain or shine, FAHMLA was a success and it’s all thanks to the many that attended! As the month comes to a close, celebration and pride of being a Filipino American doesn’t end here. Mabuhay!!
