BTS has finally made their way back to the United States after almost 2 years! The group arrived in New York over the weekend to attend the prestigious 76th United Nations General Assembly to speak at the Sustainable Development Goals Moment (SDG Moment) alongside South Korean President, Moon Jae In. This event marks the group’s third involvement with the UNGA, but is their first official responsibility as the newly appointed Special Presidential Envoys. RM, Jin, SUGA, j-hope, Jimin, V and Jung Kook showed up in sleek black suits and donned white face masks as they spoke about the youth living through the ongoing pandemic as well as hope for the future, calling it the “welcome generation” instead of the “lost generation.” They also touched on the topics of global warming, vaccination (to which they confirmed that all 7 of them are!) and the emotions the group experienced as well while living through these difficult times. They wrapped up their speech by sharing a special video performance of their hit song, “Permission To Dance.”
BTS spent their Monday evening at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, as they joined South Korea’s First Lady Kim Jung-sook to present a gift from the South Korean government of lacquerware vessels by artist Chung Haecho. Leader RM had the special opportunity to speak at the event in which he said, “The eyes of the world are on Korean culture—Korean dramas, Korean film, Korean music—but there are still many great Korean artists who are yet to be discovered by the world. With our new special envoy position, we feel a sense of pride to be able to support the work of artists from our country and to try to spread Korean culture through the world and to everyone around the world.” The museum’s director, Max Hollein, shared “We’re deeply grateful for this generous gift of contemporary lacquer vessels, a gesture that is particularly meaningful as we look ahead to 2023—when The Met will celebrate the 25th anniversary of our Arts of Korea gallery.”
The most recent track BTS released was the “Butter” remix version which featured singer/rapper, Meg Thee Stallion. While in New York, the members made sure to pay a visit to their friend as they all posted fun selfies together for their fans to see! Meg Thee Stallion even shared that the group gifted her a cute BT21 Koya plushie, as the members were also photographed playing with her puppy, 4oe. On the topic of new music, BTS is also gearing up for a new release, this time, for their highly-anticipated collaboration with Coldplay. Earlier this month, it was confirmed that BTS and Coldplay would be releasing a new single titled, “My Universe,” which comes out on September 24. Atlantic Records shared an exciting schedule of the promo run-down over the next few days, which you can check out below!
The BTS ARMY were over the moon to hear of the confirmation of a Season 2 of HYBE’s reality series, “In The SOOP – BTS version.” Today, a special video teaser was shared of what we can expect and it looks like it will be a season bigger than we ever imagined! The group will be spending their time in a customized villa resort in the middle of the forest with luxuries built exclusively for BTS. The teaser included a caption stating, “Large-scale construction solely for BTS and BTS alone. A dream-like space where BTS’s hopes and dreams become reality. A large-scale project that took a year to prepare, from the architectural design to completion of construction!” Included in the 56-second teaser was voiceovers from the members who expressed their amazement at the incredible space they would be relaxing in. “In the SOOP – BTS version Season 2” will premiere on October 15!
We think it’s safe to say that it’s BTS’ world and we’re just living in it! Congratulations, BTS!
