If you’re looking for a new musical act to follow and listen to, we’ve got you covered! SINDOSI:22 is a sibling duo that consists of members No. 20 and No. 21, who release incredibly catchy tracks with addicting beats and melodies and their vocals flawlessly blended in. The brother/sister team up is described to have “English-Korean bilingual lyrical ability, keeping their traits and identity under wraps” beneath their “Daft-Punk inspired helmets,” and characterize themselves as “fluid personas who are capable of taking on any form.”

No. 20 and No. 21 most recently dropped their first-ever EP, “howtosurvive_____” and features five tracks with varying genres of music, from lo-fi bedroom pop to R&B, hip-hop, and indie. The track list includes: “lazy,” “domythang,” “swerve,” “boss,” and “hanzanhe,” all written and produced by the sibling duo. “howtosurvive” represents the “blueprint about survival on a struggling Earth.” Messages behind each track are simple yet relatable – taking a break from a busy routine, being your authentic self, steering away from drama and negativity, taking ownership of ones life path, and living in the moment.

We had the special opportunity to chat with SINDOSI:22 in an exclusive interview about their career and “howtosurvive_____”

1. How did the idea of working together to create SINDOSI:22 come about?

No. 21: While I was coming up with a new song during the pandemic, I thought a female vocal feature would be nice but couldn’t meet up in the studio during the lockdowns. No.20 decided to hop on the track, and I saw a potential for a sibling duo. We pushed for more tracks as a sibling duo and picked 5 tracks for our debut EP.

2. What is the story behind the name SINDOSI:22?

No. 21: SINDOSI in Korean means new city and a planned city, which is where we both spent most of our teenage years. It seemed ironic how the community lacks culture and freshness. Adopting a new mindset or vision within the same old city, therefore making it look like a new city. This narrative kind of helped shape our vision for the digital world as well, where we hope to invite new experiences through our creations.

3. What is the dynamic like of working together, especially as siblings?

No. 21: We think it’s easier to work as siblings rather than other artists because we have known each other our whole life. We know what we like and dislike as a team, based on the influences that we gave each other. And it’s easier to set up a schedule to record and work on a track because we live in the same household.

4. Which track on “howtosurvive_____” was the hardest to create?

No. 21: I think “Boss” was the hardest to create, we struggled to come up with the main mood / genre. It felt like we didn’t know what to do with the track, we tried to arrange it with other producers. Personally, I think it’s still not finished to perfection.

5. Favorite track off of “howtosurvive_____” and why?

No. 20: My favorite for sure is “lazy” and “boss”. I’m really proud of “lazy” because it was the first time I wrote lyrics and melodies of my own. This was a huge accomplishment! With the song “boss” this became first song we got to ever record together as a sibling duo. These are the most profound memories that make them my favorite.

No. 21: The first single we ever released, “domythang” is my favorite. This has deep sense of meaning as it was the first song we released as a sibling duo that solidified the start of our music careers. It also was the first music video we got to shot and those vivid memories have stayed with me making this my favorite.

6. The album has a variety of genres, what’s one that you haven’t done yet and would like to try?

No. 21: We’ve put some aspects of orchestra in this EP, but we haven’t made a full orchestral track. My current major is film scoring and with that education I always wanted to adopt it to my own discography. Maybe someday we’ll see a SINDOSI Symphony. Additionally, we’ve been pushing for some dark and melancholy vibes for our covers, this idea might get on to our upcoming album.

7.  An artist/artists you’d like to collaborate on a track with?

No. 21: Few artists that’s from the top of my head are Pharrell Williams, Clazziquai Project, and m-flo. I used to love the mid 2000’s thru early 2010’s culture. I’m glad to see that the Y2K is an uprising trend.

Along with the release of their EP, SINDOSI:22 also dropped the official music video for “swerve,” which you can check out down below, and we can assure you, you’ll watch it over and over again!
