Broadway and Disney legend Lea Salonga is set to receive one of the highest honors at the 2026 Manila International Film Festival (MIFF), where she will be presented with the MIFF Icon Award during the festival’s Closing Night Gala this September in Beverly Hills.
The third annual MIFF will take place from September 3 to 6, 2026, returning to iconic Hollywood venues including the TCL Chinese Theatre and The Beverly Hilton. This year’s celebration will spotlight Philippine and diaspora cinema while honoring Salonga’s decades-long global impact in theater, film, and music.
A Tony and Olivier Award winner, Salonga is internationally recognized for originating the role of Kim in Miss Saigon, as well as for her iconic Disney voice performances as Princess Jasmine in Aladdin and Fa Mulan in Mulan. Her career spans Broadway, film, television, and concert stages worldwide, earning her recognition as one of the most influential Filipino artists in global entertainment.
Festival organizers praised Salonga as a “legend whose extraordinary career has broken barriers and inspires generations,” highlighting her role as a global ambassador for Filipino talent and excellence.
In addition to the Icon Award, MIFF has also nominated Salonga for a Hollywood Walk of Fame star under the Live Theater category, a milestone that would further cement her historic legacy in the entertainment industry.
With MIFF returning for its third year, the festival continues its mission of elevating Philippine storytelling on the global stage while honoring artists who have shaped international entertainment history.
