BTS is back and already smashing records with their newest song and verified summer anthem “Butter.” The septet spreads happiness, good vibes and high energy with their second all-English track and marks the first global song (aside from their Japanese single “Film Out”) the group has released in 2021. “Butter” is described to be a dance pop track with a distinctive baseline and crisp synth sounds. The official music video which was released at the same time as the song, already boasts 80 million views, and it was just premiered about 15 hours ago, as of writing! The viral video starts off with a black and white filter and immediately transitions into a colorful wonderland as soon as the chorus hits with the catchy lyrics “Side step, right, left to my beat” showcasing the unbeatable dance style and charm that BTS brings in every performance.
We had the opportunity to attend the global press conference for “Butter” where the members talked about the creative process of the song, whether or not they’re hoping for a Grammy with this release, memories of the struggles they faced when first starting out in music, and they also touched on fun topics as well like their upcoming 8th year anniversary in the industry, V’s curly hair look, what they’ve been doing in their downtime and of course, a reiteration in every one of their answers – how much they miss their BTS ARMY! We did a full LIVE run-down on Twitter, so if you’d like to read more about the press conference, check out our tweets here.
BTS will perform “Butter” live for the first time at the upcoming Billboard Music Awards on Sunday, May 23. The group is also nominated for four categories this year, breaking their record of nominations over the past few years. They’re up for the Top Duo/Group, Top Song Sales Artist, Top Social Artist and Top Selling Song awards.
