Singer/songwriter, JAKE $ING, has just released his debut EP, “ups & downs,” which lyrically, musically and visually takes you on a journey through the rollercoaster of emotions from his previous relationships. “ups & downs” includes four tracks: “MAKE UP,” “TILL IT HURTS,” “LET DOWN,” and “TOO MUCH.” The first song on the EP, “MAKE UP,” shares the story and feelings of the initial stage of a relationship where you’re so in love that spending time with each other is the most important thing. “TILL IT HURTS” takes the listener through a more serious and emotional phase of the pain that’s felt when you’re not ready to let the other person go. In “LET DOWN,” the third track on the EP, the anger and disappointment about the previous other half is known, as it’s the stage where you explode with all of the feelings that were left bottled up. “LET DOWN” is a song from the EP that has an accompanying visual and opposite of what the lyrics are, the music and video are bright, beachy and colorful with a touch of satire, even though based on a true story! “TOO MUCH” wraps up the stages where you finally accept the status of the relationship and that although it didn’t work out the way you expected it to, you just have to accept that fact and move on.
JAKE $ING signed with Sony Music in the latter part of 2020 and continues to be the voice of GEN Z with his relatable lyrics, stories and perspective. If you’re a fan of Olivia Rodrigo’s, JAKE $ING would sing about the opposite point of view in a relationship, whether good or bad, and will make you rock out with him through his music, which is perfectly reflected in the “ups & downs” EP. As a Chinese-American singer/songwriter, he shared his personal experiences in his most recent release, “Fresh Off The Boat,” which gained media recognition as a reflection on ethnic diversity in the US as well as an anthem for unity in the face of discrimination. It looks like JAKE is just getting started and will definitely be an artist to watch out for! Check out the music video for “LET DOWN” down below and be sure to add “ups & downs” to your playlists!
