If you follow any of the SM Entertainment artists on social media, you might have noticed that they all posted the same image! The agency officially announced that they would be kicking off an exciting new project called “SMTOWN 2022: SMCU EXPRESS” kicking off at the end of the month. For those unaware, SMCU stands for SM Culture Universe, which will bring fans into a unique metaverse through a variety of futuristic content. First on the schedule is the release of a special winter album featuring many of the agency’s artists as well as never-before-seen collaborations between members of different groups! The “2021 Winter SMTOWN: SMCU EXPRESS” album will be released on December 27 with pre-orders for the album to open on December 10. Starting on December 30, SM Entertainment will be launching a brand-new “SMTOWN EXPERIENCE: PLAY @ KWANGYA” media exhibition using the LED screen on the first floor of its building in Seoul. (KWANGYA is the fictional world in the SMCU.) Finally, on January 1, the company will be holding a free online concert called “SMTOWN LIVE 2022: SMCU EXPRESS @ KWANGYA” and will be a special gift for fans all over the world to watch on multiple platforms such as YouTube, Beyond LIVE and more. The artists scheduled to be a part of this exciting project are: H.O.T.’S Kangta, BoA, TVXQ, Super Junior, Girls’ Generation – Oh!GG, SHINee, EXO, Red Velvet, NCT, aespa and more!
